Recruitment Announcement for Research Professors and Postdoctoral Researchers
The Center for Galaxy Evolution Research at Yonsei University invites applications for Research Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher positions (up to 8 positions) under the University Research Center Support Program and the National Research Foundation of Korea research support programs. We seek researchers who will actively pursue research in galaxy evolution and supernova cosmology.
Research Fields
Field 1 — Prof. Young-Wook Lee (3 positions)
Photometric/spectroscopic data analysis of external galaxies, supernova cosmology/observational cosmology, or stellar populations of galaxies and globular clusters (theory and observation)
Field 2 — Prof. Seok-Jin Yoon (1 position)
Development of unstructured moving-mesh hydrodynamics codes, AI for galactic astronomy, or observations/simulations of galaxies and globular clusters
Field 3 — Prof. Sukyoung Yi · Prof. Taysun Kimm (3 positions)
Numerical simulation of galaxy formation or GMCs
Field 4 — Prof. Aeri Chung (1 position)
Observations of environmental effects or extragalactic ISM
Contract Period and Salary
Contract Period
Initial 2-year appointment, extendable for an additional 2 years based on research performance (2+2 years)
Postdoctoral Salary
Approximately KRW 50,000,000 per year
Research Professor Salary
Approximately KRW 60,000,000 per year (for candidates with at least 4 years of experience after PhD; up to KRW 69,600,000)
Additional Support
Publication fees, research travel expenses, and computer purchase support
Qualifications
Applicants must hold (or be expected to obtain before the start date) a PhD in astronomy or a related field.
